Is it effective, and who should use it? Let's find out.

Read this guide to learn more about the 7-skin method.

What is the 7-Skin Method?

The term "skin" is frequently used to refer to toner or essence in Korean skincare, which is where the 7-skin method got its start. By using this method, you start with washing your face with a face whitening facewash and applying toner to your skin seven times in a row, letting each layer absorb completely before applying the next. This technique aims to improve the texture and appearance of your skin by deeply hydrating it. This method is used to condition and deeply moisturize the skin without making it feel greasy or heavy. This layering method improves the skin's ability to hold onto moisture over time, giving it a smooth, young-looking appearance. However, you don't need to obsess over the number "7." Applying toner seven times in a row is not necessary. Remember, layering the toner until your skin feels comfortably moisturized is the goal. After just a few layers, you may notice that your skin is radiant and joyful, and that's okay!

How to Do the Korean 7-Skin Method?

Here’s how you can follow the 7-skin method easily.

Cleanse Your Face with Face Whitening Facewash

To start, use a mild cleanser to get rid of excess oil, makeup, and contaminants. When your skin is clean, your toner layers will absorb more efficiently. We recommend using Skin Lab’s Face Whitening Facewash to eliminate dust and dirt. This face whitening facewash addresses common skin issues such as acne scars, discoloration, and dull skin. It also hydrates and moisturizes the skin, making it look plumper and smoother. Take a few drops of the face whitening facewash and massage it into your face. After massaging for 1-2 minutes, wash your face with lukewarm water.

Apply the First Layer

It's time for a toner now! And choosing the correct one for your skin type is crucial. Using a hydrating, mild toner that is devoid of harsh chemicals and alcohol is essential for the best results. Ingredients that offer deep hydration, wetness, and calming properties should be included in the toner.  Additionally, we advise against using formulas that contain exfoliants because the goal of this technique is hydration rather than exfoliation. Remember that the initial layer of toner works best when your face is somewhat wet rather than completely dry. You can apply this first layer by patting it into the skin with your palms or even a cotton pad.

Add More Layers

The key is to layer the toner continuously until your skin feels adequately nourished and moisturized, indicating that the seven stages don't always have to be precisely seven. Use whatever feels best for your skin, whether that's three layers or all seven.
You can use your other serums after applying your toner because your skin will be prepped to absorb them, or you can use a moisturizer to lock everything in. Just keep in mind that you should apply the products in the thickest to thinnest consistency. Some people only need to apply seven layers of a moisturizing toner or essence-toner in the summer, especially if they have oily skin.

How Frequently Should You Use the Korean 7-Skin Method?

A lot of people include the 7 Skin Method in their overnight or daily skincare regimens. However, it is possible that some people won't need to follow the 7 Skin Method every day. The frequency of the 7 Skin Method is not a universally applicable rule. It's a versatile method that you can modify to suit your skin type and tastes!

Who Should Try the 7-Skin Method?

Although this approach is suitable for everyone, it is particularly advantageous for:

Dehydrated or Dull Skin: Offers a burst of hydration to revitalize skin that appears exhausted.

Sensitive Skin: It gradually fortifies the skin barrier when used in conjunction with a mild toner.

Remember, avoid over-layering if you have oily or acne-prone skin; sometimes simplicity or even skin fasting is preferable.
